Therein lies the real treasure that is Miriam's work: she listened deeply enough to hear my goals and create suggestions to support me, while never acting as though there was any one right way or best way to feed. "

Miriam was an indispensable support during the early weeks of my breastfeeding journey and remains an incredible ally as my baby and I continue to grow our feeding relationship. Miriam seamlessly blended listening skills (that made me feel she truly appreciated the nuances of my situation and concerns) with an absolute vault of information, resources, videos and ideas.

She provided me with helpful verbal AND written summaries of the ideas that made the most sense to support helping my baby and I with latch, supply preservation, and the early building blocks of our unique breastfeeding dynamic. She helped me get comfortable quickly with pumping and paced-bottle feeding, and reduced the stress of learning it all while recovering from birth and adjusting to life with a newborn. She also provided great strategies for building towards my goal of direct nursing.

Ultimately, Miriam's support helped me achieve my goal, but at the same time she also helped me feel more comfortable with whatever outcome might have arisen based on my unique baby and his needs. Therein lies the real treasure that is Miriam's work: she listened deeply enough to hear my goals and create suggestions to support me, while never acting as though there was any one right way or best way to feed. When you talk to Miriam, you feel she is YOUR ally above and beyond any particular agenda (even your own panicked or anxiety driven one!), which was so helpful to me as a first time parent getting inundated with advice from family, friends, and social media. As a queer parent, Miriam's use of inclusive language and affirmation of me and my family mean a lot to me.

My sessions with Miriam were all virtual as I live in another country where most IBCLC's don't speak English- our virtual sessions did everything I needed them to do. I found myself bowled over by the impact of postpartum hormone and mood shifts; Miriam provided a calm in that storm. Her social worker background comes through in her humility, depth of listening, and awareness of intersectional issues and emotional and mental health. Miriam is grounded, nonjudgmental, and incredibly knowledgeable; these superpowers make her a trustworthy guide on the precious journey of breastfeeding.
